Presentation Description: The presentation will include an overview of the City of Modesto's sewer predictive/preventative maintenance program, a discussion on why sewers fail, a discussion on the economics of sewer maintenance, and a discussion on the future of sewer maintenance programs and systems.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participates will better understand the role of maintenance strategies—reactive, preventive, and predictive—in managing sewer collection systems, and recognize the importance of predictive maintenance (PdM) in protecting infrastructure, public health, and the environment.
Upon completion, participates will be able to better identify key data sources used in PdM, including asset information, line history, operator feedback, and CCTV inspections, and explain how data improves decision-making, enhances efficiency, and supports regulatory compliance in wastewater operations.
Upon completion, participates will be excited about the future trends in sewer system management, including IoT, AI-driven analytics, and smart city integration.
