My name is Arci Bland, I am a Chemist at Coachella Valley Water District with a Grade 3 Analyst license from CWEA.
Biography
With a strong foundation in the chemical and biological sciences, I have built a career spanning ten years in environmental laboratory analysis and management. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), which provided me the academic rigor necessary for a complex and highly regulated field. My career began in a commercial environmental laboratory, where over time, I developed expertise in a diverse array of analytical techniques. My work encompassed a broad spectrum of sample analysis, including microbiology samples, ion chromatography (IC) samples, and metals samples. This extensive hands-on experience honed my ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of specialized laboratory instruments and to interpret complex test results. Currently, I work as a Chemist for the Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD). I also aide in QA/QC as quality manager for the laboratory. In this pivotal role, I am responsible for managing comprehensive quality management for the laboratory. My duties include ensuring the laboratory's adherence to all relevant regulatory standards (e.g., EPA approved methods, Standard Methods, and TNI standards), overseeing quality control programs, updating documentation, and potentially participating in method development and validation to safeguard water quality for the community.
