Workshop Description: Out of sight and out of mind, submersible pumps are the unsung hero of many sewer collection systems. This presentation will provide attendees with an intimate view of the major components of a submersible pump (impeller, volute, mech. seal assembly, sensors), and how to test/inspect these items during routine preventative maintenance intervals.
In addition to the above, best practices will also be shared with regards to the lift station wet-well upkeep and auxiliary equipment testing.
The advice and intent of this presentation is to promote preventative maintenance measures in order to: 1) minimize/mitigate, costly, unplanned outages and 2) lower the T.C.O. (total cost of ownership) for the life station.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the importance of, and how to conduct preventative maintenance on a lift station with submersible pumps.
Describe the major components of a submersible pump and how to inspect and/or test them.
Define other items that are utilized at a lift station that should also be tested on a routine basis.
